About three or four times a week I make a point of it to go out for a nightly walk/jog/wog/jalk. It's fun to go out and explore our quaint neighborhood and get lost in its newness. It has been too hot here during the day for any normal person to stay outside for extended periods, and I'm still not comfortable enough to venture out into the dangerous-sounding city of Orangevale alone at night, so I always pick the most perfect time to go out: dusk. The sun is setting, temperatures are cooling, families are at home together, and as I walk through the burbs I relish in the sounds of children playing in the yard and the smell of dinner cooking on the grill. It's really the prime time for walks. And while I've really enjoyed the newness of my town, and creating new routes, tonight my mind wandered to where I think would be the perfect places for an evening stroll.
PARIS
You must pronounce is 'Pahr-reeeee"
NEW ORLEANS
Disclosure: I am total Disney nerd, and New Orleans Square is one of my fave areas of Disneyland. If I could just chill in N.O.S. with no one else around, that would be heaven. I really don't hate people, or having them around, but an evening stroll is ruined by crowds. An evening stroll on Mardi Gras would be awful. An evening stroll down Bourbon Street when it's abandoned, lightly drizzling, hearing the distant sounds of music and slowing breathing in the scent of jambalaya, sounds awesome.
EPCOT
Seriously guys, I love Disney. And ever since my first trip to Disney World I FELL IN LOVE with the World Showcase at Epcot. Disney really does it up right, and in one place you can walk from ancient ruins in Mexico, to hear a Beatles cover band in Great Britain, to Morocco, to France, to China, and so on. Omg, I'm geeking out just thinking about it, it is seriously so awesome. If you ever want to see my own pictures, I'll show you, I've got lots. Now Disneyland/Disneyworld kind of breaks my rule of having as few people as possible for the stroll, but a big part of Disney is magic, and sometimes you can really lucky and have rare moments of peace. It makes me sad to think that in my lifetime I will probably never have the opportunity to travel to all of these super unique and awesome places, but at least for a moment I got a small sense of what it would be like.
